Drivers Age

18 to 80 Years

Customers who fall outside the age limitations will not be able to rent a car unless there is a young or senior driver fee specified in this section. Please note that, if applicable, this fee will be included in the rental price and will be payable on arrival at the rental desk in the local currency.

Travel Restrictions

You must obtain permission from the rental agent before cross border travel.

Vehicles can be driven in Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Italy, Ireland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, Norway, Portugal, San Marino, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom and the Vatican (Area 1). Any islands are excluded from cross border travels. Travels to Norway and Sweden are only permitted between 1st May and 30th September. On request vehicles may also be driven in Croatia, Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia (Area 2).

Standard, Fullsize, Premium and Luxury vehicles as well as the brands Audi, BMW, Mercedes and Volkswagen are not permitted to go into Area 2. A surcharge of 5.00 EUR per day will apply for all cross border travels to Area 2. Prior authorization to leave the country with the vehicle is not required except when traveling to countries in Area 2. Driving the vehicle into any unauthorized country without prior authorization is a breach of contract and will require the customer to pay for all recovery expenses.

Some restrictions may apply with respect to loading the vehicle on trains, boats, ferries or similar means of transportation and taking the vehicle from the mainland onto an island.
